Chapter 5 Review

1.  Entrepreneurs look for new ideas everywhere.

2.  Experienced business people get information from the connections they have made in whatever industry they've worked their way up through.

3.  The difference between invention and innovation is that invention is the creation of a product of a process for the first time and innovation is when someone improves on or makes a significant contribution to something that has already been invented.

4.  People protect their ideas by patenting them.

5.  Lateral thinking: is solving problems through an indirect and creative approach

Trademark: is a recognizable sign, design or expression which identifies products or services of a particular source from those of others.

Brainstorming: is a group or individual creativity technique by which efforts are mad to find a conclusion for a specific problem

Patent: is a set of exclusive rights granted by a sovereign state to an inventor or assignee for a limited period of time in exchange for detailed public disclosure of an invention

Right brain: is the side of the brain that focuses more on creativity, imagination, intuition, feelings and daydreaming

Intellectual property: is a legal term that refers to creations of the mind

Left brain: is the side of the brain that focuses more on logic, analyzing,  sequencing, math and language

6.  White hat: facts, information, research

Red hat: feeling, hunch

Black hat: logical, negative

Yellow hat: logical, positive

Green hat: creative, new ideas

Blue ideas: organizer, manages

7.  Some other ways to generate ideas are to go for a walk, take a nap or watch tv.
